routerboard bridges falling down, falling down, falling down

Mikrotonians.

We have successfully setup 5.7 WDS bridges to use for short range backhauls. Strength around -69.

Been up for 4 days. for the last two days, we have spontaneously “lost” the bridge. no explaination, no cause and effect on our end, the two devices simply stopped talking to one another. A reboot didn’t fix it. After hours of trying to put things back, we simply reconfigured from scratch, and all started working again. Is this a bug in the 2.9.18 firm they were shipped with, or a misconfiguration on our end.

cheers

It sounds like a fluke to me.

I’m kind of intrigued about how you can be so certain that it was nothing you did. Did you dump all packets to and from the units? were they perfectly isolated in a lab? And last, how can we answer wether it’s a configuration error if we can’t see the configuration? :*)

certain it was not us, because when we set things up and when they work, we leave them alone. I don’t like tinkering. And things worked for four days beautifully! Well, been several days now, still going strong after the reconfiguration.

Hope it was a fluke sten.

My point was, if you installed a new unit into the bridged network and that unit is broken you would have done something. Often reinstalling is the necessary time needed for the problem to “go away”.
L2 networks are very vulnerable to outside influence.
Now make with the configuration
