Routerboard broadcast...

hi dude…

we experience 5 times that, on the 5 different place routerboard is broadcasting to our network.
all the routerboard system package is: advanced tools; mpls; routerboard; system & wireless.

something to highlight here is, the broadcast unit is from customer end, even we unplug the station unit LAN, it keep killing the AP and effect all the other same AP shared customer.

what we do is, we allow the station mac address one by one to filter out which station doing the broadcast.

anyone facing this issue, this is out of sudden one.

thanks.

You can apply bridge filter everytime when you install a new link…

The thing now is, we do not know what happened.
i mean broadcast, it’s not from the dhcp as in the system package it’s disable.

just want to see, anyone have this issue?
which it’s something very weird.

thanks

yes i found this type of problems many times

Causes :

  1. Due Self interference(No traffic on Base but latency high on all clients)
  2. Due to Ethernet loop/Client PCs Broadcast/Unwanted traffic from Base Ethernet (High traffic on Base)

So what we did, we made WLAN1 mode station-wds with no bridging enabled. this breaks broadcast and collison domain of clients and make WLAN1 on brdging and Ether1 on routing. And everything works perefectly fine.

Second we enable Vlans on customer and only allowed specific vlan data from Base to each WDS(Client).

actually not that thing, all the while the station unit running well, and this thing happen out of sudden, once we replace a new unit with same configuration, then it’s ok.

mean while, this unit cannot be use anymore…

It could be broken hardware. Sometimes NIC interface can make such problem. Test this problematic unit in diferent place (hint: try to change eth speed negotiation)
