Routerboard CRS Performance Specs and PRicing

Hi

I was considering if my CRS i have installed is suitable for my needs and looked up the performance and cost.

I currently have the “CRS125-24G-1S-RM” installed and was looking at the most expensive CRS router the “CRS226-24G-2S+RM”. They have added an SFP port but reduces the CPU power from 600mhz to 400mhz and halved the RAM form 128mb to 64MB.

This doesn’t seem right, why would you add more ports/functionality and increase price, but REDUCE specs.

Yes, this is supposed to be so. Is is a better Switch. You can ignore the CPU power, because for Switching, CPU is not important. This will only matter for routing.

CRS 100 series switches are pure 1Gbps interface switches
CRS 200 series switches are 1/10Gbps interface switches

so as far as switches goes prices makes perfect sense - take a look at pricing of other vendors on the same principle.

CPU and memory have nothing to do with switching performance
Both CPUs are sufficient for running RouterOS and have basic router functionality,
I think on CRS 100 series CPU is more powerful cause there are also wireless interface possibility.

Great, thanks for the answers guys.
