routerboard died!

Last night I got various reports from people working from home that they could no longer access the network. I checked myself and nothing.

After going to the office I noticed all the lights off on the RB850G. It’s been working for a good year with no issues. I tried unplugging it and plugging it back in, even tried another plug… nothing.

Sometimes the blue light will flash once as I plug it into the power mains, but thats it. Doesnt boot or flash or anything.

Luckily I had an old 450GB with some old config still on it enough to get things going again… my biggest problem? I’ve not taken a backup of the config in about 6 months from the newest router (rookie mistake), and i’ve done alot of changes on it… is there any way of getting this RB850G to come back to life again?

Check the RB850 with the working power supply you used for the RB450.
Check the brown electrolytic capacitors on the RB850 PCB. The RB450’s with similar capacitors often failed with faulty capacitors. A visual indication is a bulging top or bottom or leaking greasy substance. Changing the 3 large capacitors usually brings them back to life.
