Routerboard LAN WAN Internet questions

Hi All,

I have a RouterBoard 2011UAS-2Hnd that I have been tasked with getting up and running with two internet connections.

It will be setup with one LAN interface, one WAN interface and a directly attached Internet interface.

I haven’t played with routers since I left school 10 years ago so I’m slowly getting my head around what’s required.

With the setup it will be used to route all traffic out the WAN interface to another router which will being taking care of NAT for anything coming in on that interface, and the routerboard will be NAT’ing purely on the attached internet interface.

I have currently setup the internet on the routerboard and placed a NAT rule to my test machine which is working, on the snapgear I have a NAT rule to point to the same machine however when I come through on that connection (Snapgear side of the routerboard) I can see the initial connection but no response from the machine on the LAN side of the routerboard. I’m sure I’m missing a simple rule but have been unable to get my head around it currently. I have attached a simple diagram of my current layout.

Hi Again,

just an update on this, I have now got both connections working independantly, Internet and WAN side, I’m at the point now where i’m trying to create Mangle rules so that any traffic that comes in on the Internet interface will return out that interface and anything that comes in via the snapgear returns out via that interface on the routerboard. I am trying to mark the connections and then set a default route based on the connection mark. but am having no luck. Does anyone have a working example of mangle rules that would achieve this?
