Hi

One of my clients is finally considering switching over to Mikrotik.

At the moment he is using Cisco ASA 5505 (EoL = 16/01/2013)
to connect IPSec VPNs between the central office in Europe and
remote agencies in the Carribean (2/3 users each).

The agencies connect to a remote server via https.

As per Roy Adams’ high availability presentation I am going to link
each agency with two ADSL links plus 3G modem.

There are three models I’m thinking of : RB951G, RB450G and RB493G
Wireless isn’t a requirement. The 450 & 493 seem powerful enough, but
the 450 doesn’t have a USB port. Any thoughts or suggestions ?

I’m planning to equip each agency with an extra replacement router,
but my essential concern is whether these models will still be available
for purchase in three to five years time ?

Any recommendations on which kit I should opt for ?

Does not matter if they will still exist or not in a few years time, its more on how long its gana last you, depending on your load of work & if something happens to it.
you can use any router depending on your load & traffic the router has to do for it to work smooth & as long as both ends are configured correct for example vpn everything should work

About model availability, the RB9xx is newer than RB4xx and uses newer CPUs.

RB2011 is also a good choice.
