Routerboard Problem - please Help

Not to sure if this problem has been documented before.

I am running a RB532 with an MT-R52 wireless card with a PoE injector. They run fine for a while then for no apparent reason they lock-up with the blue light flashing and a continous beeping.

Any idea what causes this? Its happening on a few of my units.

this is a known issue, contact your distributor for help.

It’s RB532 rev.5 or some older revision? When you buy that RB?

They are all new units, all purchaced in the last 2 months.

What is the solution? A BIOS upgrade? or swop out?

Maybe it’s same with your problem? There is describe about possible solutions.

Yes I saw that thread. I was just wondering if the routerboards will be swapped out by the supplier?

why don’t you just ask them? each supplier has their own approach

It sems the problem migh be caused by power surges and not the factory fault many are refering to. I will install a surge protector and see if this solves the issue.

Please let me know if anyone else has the same response from a power surege.

Maybe you must make sure your jumper, is the jumper is set to enable PoE or Not? or check the power jumper and according with your power adaptor used.

thanks,

These new routerboards you do not need to change the jumber for PoE

i got the same problem when use 48v, but if i use 12v adapter without change 48v jumper, it works.

I had one do this too. Had to climb a tower twice to deal with it and swap it out. Was intermittent. Tried to use it elsewhere and had to swap it out again.

Was sent back for RMA.

Only reason I even posted here was due to normis saying known problem contact your distributor. Its not a secret. We are discussing it here. Please chare what you know the problem is, since its known.

Why should I have to call my distributor to find out a known problem nobody seems to know about? I usually support MT decisions and posts - not this time. Probably because it effects me now.

Please take a moment, and share with the people who spend money on and support your business/products, what is this known problem. Thats not too much to ask… If someone else finds out please post it here - either way its going to be known. Better from the horses mouth direct

I’ve already sent it back and spoken with my distributor. They did not share with me that it was a known problem - just that I had to RMA it and it would be replaced. Only reason I am pressing to find out what happened is so I can avoid customer downtime by testing any new units ahead of time. This problem was intermittent and the unit seemed normal for some time before crapping out. Seems to be power supply related in a powerup cycle - on off on off on off every 1/3 second or so.

Thanks
