Hi,
Anybody here using MT boards under high ambient temperatures? I´ve to build a few links in the UAE and i´m concerned about the high ambient temperatures and sun.
I usually prefer to mount them outdoors with aluminium cases, of course here in austria…;
Will they just work, or die?
Thanks.
I made a project in Qatar. You can use this boxes, but you need to put a piece of metal in the top of the box, like a umbrella, and painted in white. We had our rbs working one month without problems, in october, with a lot of hot there..
You can also use the hyperlink boxes, with “coolers” inside.
Dear Martin,
I´ve a few alu cases with RB800s installed here in Austria and the temperature is rising up 20C+ when exposed to direct sunlight - however they don´t fail.
I guess this will be much more of a problem in the Gulf region.
But i think RB800s are even more affected by high temperatures, due their much higher clockrate - so i´ll use RB433s (or maybe the new 711s).
I don´t need the power, just stable links…
Thanks for dispelling my doubts, i´ll go for it and try.
If you don’t need speed, you could try 433s with low power minicpi, and big antennas. Avoid XR5’s or R5H’s if you don’t need to cook a chiken there.
