Routerboard WiFi antennas?

I bought this product:

RB912UAG-5HPnD

It says in the box that connect antennas before powering device. However I do not have antennas. I ordered now, but still waiting for then.

What happens if I power on without antennas? Will it fry the WiFi chip?

Output amplifier will work without load, so yes a very probable chance of damaging it.

For tests and indoor, you can use regular rubberduck rp-sma antennas as found on most consumer access points.

Thanks.

I will try to see if I have some antennas in some AP.

Sadly most of them are ufl connectors vs Mikrotik mmcx.

Normally you would have mmcx-rpsma pigtails but I see they come with the enclosure rather than with the board.

Sorry, thought you were using a Basebox5 instead of the standalone RB912.

You’re right, you need either an mmcx to rp-sma pigtail + rp-sma antenna

or mmcx to N pigtail and suitable antenna.

If you’re going to assemble several, then having a pair of antennas with integrated pigtail, like the ACSWIM will speed up initial board testing in the lab prior to assembling:
