I’ve noticed that when using routerboards (RB133 & RB532) I have trouble doing traceroutes. They seem to allow me out 5 - 6 hops and then it dies or it will only let me out every once an while. I have 2 mikrotiks, 1 is a P2-350 x86 and the other is a RB133 with identical configs, both running 2.9.46. This only happens to me on the routerboards. I’ve tried disabling my entire forward chain but the problem persists. If I change out to my x86 box, everything is fine. I use a program called Netlab that does a parallel trace (all hops at the same time for quicker traceroutes). I thought it might be in the program so I’ve been using traceroute by Solarwinds with the same results. It doesn’t appear to be a problem with windows traceroute and traceroute from Mikrotik works fine. Is mikrotik dropping some of my packets cause i’m sending too many ICMPs at the same time even though I have no drop rule for that? I’ve prefer not to use the dos traceroute as it is so slow.
Thanks
Nik
