I’m a computer technican new to all MikroTik products. Been called to a job because RouterOS 5.7 is causing some grief.
This is the situation as it stands:
- the administrator creates a new ticket/sign-on/password which is valid for 4hours connection time.
- Customer fires up computer, opens browser, enters sign-on/password and surfs internet
- Customer logs out (or simply closes browser/shuts computer down) after only a few minutes
- Customer fires up computer, opens a browser but sign-on/password no longer work
- Adaministrator creates another ticket
And so the process continues.
Question One:
Was this a known bug in RouterOS 5.7?
Question Two:
Will upgrading to RouterOS 5.9 resolve the problem?
Question Three:
Is it more likely that the previous computer technician (whom I am replacing) stuffed the initial set-up up?
Question Four:
Could it also be caused by an error between keyboard and chair (User-Error) ?
And finally:
If I upgrade the OS to v5.9, will it retain all current data etc or does the upgrade wipe all data?
Thanks so much for any help given. You may know how it is… technicians haven’t got hours or even days to learn and understand how a piece of software works because the customer doesn’t want to pay for that learning time. So sometimes it is just in everyone’s interest to post a question on a forum.
