RouterOS 6.0: BUG - Ether1 always 1GbE, but doesn't work

Hello,

On RB493G I’ve just upgraded to ROS 6.0 and upgraded firmware. My uplink is Ether1 and after the upgrade it refuses to work.

Accidentaly, I’ve took a picture of the change

In 5.24 the port was 100Mbit/s; the cable is four wires only so thats the maximum. In ROS 6.0 link is 1GbE and it can’t be forcefully changed (always 1GbE). Port is unable to work.

I’ve tried to check if it helps to connect the port to a laptop (maybe wires are wrong now, who knows), that doesn’t help either, but port behaves in another way: it connects 100Mbit/s only but still is unable to communicate in any direction.

If I could help (supout?), let me know. Thanks.

There is such a thing as a 1GB crossover cable. However, it is not needed because 1GB is auto-sensing. Is your cable an incorrect crossover type? Try a different straight cable.

There is such a thing as a 1GB crossover cable.

I have only 4 (four) wires.

you need a Gigabit cable  CAT5e or CAT6

1000BASE-T requires eight wires to operate, the data is transmitted over all four copper pairs eight bits at a time.

He only wants 100Mbits it seems. Not sure why it worked in v5. Support will check your setup.

I upgraded one of my MIPS-BE units to RouterOS v6 and do not have this issue.
