RouterOS Crashing / lock-up

Hi,
I’ve had a few crashes in the last couple weeks that I’m trying to narrow down the reasons for.

Symptoms:
Would no longer have a connected status on any interface, power cycle it and everything works fine.

Devices + Hardware:
(2 units) RB/600 /w daughter boards
1st unit - XR2, r52h, XR9 - RouterOS 3.23 (two times lockup within 1 month - been installed for 5 months)
2nd unit - 2x - XR5’s, r52h - RouterOS 3.20 (one lockup, been installed for 4 months)

First of all, I have never had a Mikrotik unit lock-up, though i couldn’t count on both hands times I’ve seen other network hardware lock-up. At no time of these lock-ups were there any storms or known power fluctuations.

Does a WISP owner/tech/engineer have any:

-Experiences of Lock-up’s and their fixes
-suggestions for logging methodology’s that would be able to record what was going on with the board in it’s last moments
-other troubleshooting steps I could perform to better identify the cause
-experience and/or recommendation for a quality remote reboot device

Thanks in advance,
Josh

2 possibility in my experience:

  1. RB 600 unstable, unit reboot unexpectedly, with log saying "caused by watchdog … bla..bla..
    (discussion about this available somewhere in the forum)

  2. XR problematic cards, had a few XR5 and XR2 lock up our RBs, replaced with other mPCI the units works fine since.

    hope this help.

update RB600 bios to v2.19 from the routerboard.com site.
What daughter board you are using on RB600?

both units are using the RB/604 daughter board.

Is there another one for RB/600 ??

Thanks,
Josh

this is the only one daughterboard.
So please upgrade the bios to the latest version.

I did upgrade them. Thanks for the tip, I had completely forgot about BIOS for all my towers.

Follow up question however… these are the only two that have frozen up, but In my experience, when it comes to bios OR firmware for that matter. If you aren’t having a problem and don’t need a new feature, leave good enough alone.

Would it be recommended to upgrade my towers to a certain bios release?

Does anyone know a specific bios version that is not stable and I shouldn’t leave alone? Or should I just upgrade all of them to latest.
I have, in production: 433, 433AH, 333, 600, 600A, 532

The two towers that I was talking about in original post were upgraded as follows:

RB/600A BIOS 3.13->3.18
RB/600 BIOS 3.11->3.19
