Can someone please explain the difference:
-All files
-Combined package
-All packages
Ok, now that that’s done can MT please make these names more descriptive because they all sound like the same thing. Or at least add a description by each one.

All files is a torrent of all the packages and files (netinstall, etc.).
Combined package is the normal install with the common packages.
All Packages are all the packages in a zip file.
No, actually this is how it works:
COMBINED PACKAGES = 1 file with the standard packages (suitable for most people)
ALL PACKAGES = All packages as individual files. This includes the standard packages + optional packages like user manager.
ALL FILES (requires TORRENT client to download) = Combined Packages + All Packages + Changelog… This does NOT include NetInstall.
Normally, all you need is the single “Combined Packages” file unless you also want user manager. Then get either All Packages or All Files.
Actually, YES it does.

Maybe the x86 version does, but the routerboard versions do not:

Well it seems we were both right
Very good then, that will work ![]()
one netinstall to rule them all.
It is same executable for everyone, if you do not believe check md5checkusm of the file.
That really was not the question. The question was whether or not netinstall comes with the “All Files” torrent.
It seems that netinstall is included with the x86 torrent, but is NOT incuded with the RouterBoard torrent.
So, if you download the RouterBoard torrent, you have to seperately download netinstall if you need it, simply because it is not included. Which, goes back to the original poster’s question… why such differences in such similiarly named downloads? This could be confusing for beginners, espcecially with the inconsistencies with what is included in All Files.
torrent clients allow you to check and uncheck files you want to download. therefore all you need to download is the ALL file. it has all files. it doesn’t matter that you don’t need mips-le, just uncheck that folder!!

On the Mikrotik download page, once you choose a system type, you can no longer download the “ALL” file. At that point, the link turns into a mipsbe link, which does not include netinstall. I think this further complicates the downloads for new customers.
ok we will fix that
