RouterOS feature development

Hi Mikrotik team,

We have a team of 4 developers and 2 VoIP experts currently working on Freeswitch on an embedded linux platform, our aim is to have an appliance we can deploy to client sites that will act as a SIP registrar and provide call routing functionality, conferencing and voicemail, and using an API to control the remote PBX’s from a central site.

Recently I have started to feel like we are re-inventing the wheel when it comes to the base OS, a lot of the things we are working on are already in RouterOS.

Is there anyway we can create new functionality packages for RouterOS? We have no problem signing NDA’s and commercial agreements around privacy and control of code, and would happily integrate the new functionality into API extensions.

Any feedback is much appreciated.

Regards,

Andrew

you should write these kinds of things to mikrotik, not post them on a user forum. but i can tell you that mikrotik has never added any custom functionality, and is not planning to do it.

There are all kinds of distros that let users plug in their own applications.

The last thing that those of us that are actually trying to run a larger business on MT need are a bunch of unstable user applications. Normis is exactly right here.

Been there, done that, got the tee-shirt. Never again!!!

MT does their best work when concentrating on what they do well. There are untold areas that can be developed to own the world of wireless routed applications.

We end up with junk when MT forgets that hard-learned lesson. And I for one don’t need 1500 routers worth of junk! If you want to play in a toy store, there are lots of alternatives.
