MikroTik is proud to announce, that starting from version 2.9.28 there is no more upgrade time limit. All users of 2.9 can now upgrade to 2.9.28 if their license was upgradable at the first day 2.9 was released (august 2005). This means that even if your license upgrade time is over, you can still upgrade to 2.9.28! important! This only works with the new Netinstall.
From now on, a purchased license will be valid for all subreleases of the version that is STABILE at the moment of purchase, and all subreleases of the next release. For example, if you purchase your license today, it will be valid for:
2.9.X - all versions of RouterOS 2.9
3.x - all versions of RouterOS 3
This means that you will no longer be forced to stay on an unstable build if your license upgrade time ends, but will be able to upgrade up to the latest stabile build, or if you choose - continue to use the new beta releases, and so on.
The next majour release is called RouterOS3 and will be released in Autumn 2006

If your license is upgradable, you still can upgrade as before - over FTP.
Check time in /system license print. Your license upgrade time will now extend up to last version of 3.x or even 4.x (if you use L5). this could be much more than 3 years that you had yesterday!
If your license is NOT upgradable, and you are stuck on some old version - SURPRISE!, we offer a way to upgrade even up to last version of RouterOS3. This only works with netinstall, but hey - a tower climb is cheaper than all those licenses.
