RouterOS Port "ether1" stays offline when no sfp-port is connected

Hello,
I have a CRS309-1G-8S+IN, and I’m still in the getting started phase.
The CRS is running RouterOS v7.19.2 in Bridge-Mode (no routing needed).
Also have three bridges set up (MGMT/WAN-HA).

  • MGMT => Port ether1 (should be only used for config access)
  • WAN-HA => SFP6,SFP7,SFP8 (used to split WAN-Connection from INET-Router to two firewalls)
  • default => SFP1-5 (Offline - not needed)

As I’m still in the startup phase, i have a phenomena that i can’t explain.
When there is no port connected (SFP1-8) then the Port “ether1” (the only RJ45-Port) stays offline and will not respond to Ping, SSH oder WebAdmin.
Is there a Switch i coult tick in the WebFig or a command line to set to change that behaviour.
I want to manage the Switch on that RJ45 Port and not on an SFP-Port (dont have the SFP with RJ45 either).

There should be only an IP-Interface on Port “ether1” and bridge “MGMT”, but to keep the installation ongoint i still use also the IP-Interface on defbrige.

Please give me a hint, at how to achieve this.
Thank you very much
Best wishes
Franz

EDIT:
Found a Solution. Setting the IP-Interface via CLI to the MGMT-Bridge did work.
Tried it via GUI and the Setting did not stick!?!?!?! Tried this two times both ways, and it was repeatable. Seems to me, this is worth investigating (just not for me).
Case closed. For me it works now.
Cheers

In the MT world “bridge” you should traet as a virtual switch (do not mix it with switch-chip) and all settings should be applied to that bridge. Interfaces assigned to a bridge are “dumb” connectors and the only settings you should apply to them are speeds settings. You can of course use them in rules etc.
