RouterOS v6.36 RC5 killed router - stop distribution of version

Hi Guys,

RouterOS v6.36 RC5 firmware already killed two of my RB751U 2HnD equipment. After firmware update all of these type of equipment hang and will never boot again. The only solution for this was to ‘factory reset’ the unit and to manually backup the previous configuration (if the lucky users like me had a backup).

Anybody else had such a bad experience with RouterOS v6.36 RC5?

RC are just for testing. You must be aware. Don’t use them for production

Same issue with one CRS226-24G-2S+RM last saturday 23th. CRS Bricked!
Any Mikrotik engineer reading this forum?

Thank you for your concise response. Before my previous post, I _R_ead _T_he _F_ine _M_anual, to unbrick the CRS226.

  1. Using netboot. Didn’t work.
  2. Using serial console
    (you know, cisco pale blue ribbon, with null-modem adapter, 115200 8N1), upgrading via netboot. Didn’t work.
  3. Using serial console, upgrading via xmodem file transfer. Didn’t work.

Any other idea? Any other link in Mikrotik’s Wiki?

What went wrong with the NetInstall? It should be practically impossible to brick any Mikrotik unit using a RouterOS upgrade. Maybe we can help?

These things happen.. That is why we test RC’s in labs and not on live networks.
My RB922UAGS-5HPacD went into a reboot loop, and with no serial console, I was unable to see why. A netinstall of the latest stable and restore of the last backup had it up and running in about 15 minutes. (Yes, I am one of those that has backups made everyday)

Had no issues with any of my other bench gear, including a CRS125 and a CCR1016.

I also flashed 751U-2HnD the beta version 6.xx (can not remember exactly)
then it turned into a router in a brick
when you turn on all the LEDs light up and all
the store said that it is necessary to stitch a new license
can I expect to receive a new license or restore the old?
