RouterOS

HI
what is the difference between routerOS and switchOS?

Hi,

RouterOS (https://help.mikrotik.com/docs/display/ROS/RouterOS):

RouterOS is a network operating system based on the Linux kernel, pre-installed on RouterBOARD devices. It can also be installed on a PC, turning it into a router with a firewall, VPN server and client, and wireless access point. The system can serve as a customizable captive portal for a wireless access point. In addition, MikroTik has RouterOS images for use in virtual machines and cloud services, called Cloud Hosted Router (CHR), available as a virtual machine image for different virtualization solutions, including the Amazon Web Services marketplace.

SwitchOS (https://help.mikrotik.com/docs/display/SWOS/SwOS):

SwOS (SwitchOS) is an operating system designed specifically for the management of MikroTik switch products. It is configurable through the web browser and provides basic functionality for a managed switch, and more. It allows you to manage port-to-port forwarding, control broadcast storms, apply MAC filters, configure VLANs, mirror traffic, apply bandwidth limitations, and even adjust some MAC and IP header fields.
