routes disappeared - cannot create new

Hi there

Last night i was managing some new wireguard stuff and in one mikrotik, the routes under /ip/routes dissapeared, and i could no longer create new ones.
Enabling/disabling addresess/interfaces that normaly generate dynamic routes stopped doing that.

Printing or exporting rotues fails with timeout.

The default ID under /routing/router ID is displayed in RED and it has no IP on the Dynamic ID field (on my home TIK it has the bridge ip).

The main routing table cannot be deleted since its the stock one.

I found no way of reseting routing rules or the main routing table.

I tried making a backup and restoring it under /file to no success.

Any idea how can i save this router without reconfiguring everything from scratch?

Hey rcocchiararo,

What do you mean, you can’t create new routes? Is the “+” greyed out in the Winbox or do you get an error when you do it via CLI?
Or does the GUI simply not respond anymore?
You are mentioning the Router ID being “red”. Which dynamic routing protocol are you using?

What RouterOS version are you using?

If you had more than one MT in your network and the dynamic routing collapsed on that particular router without changing anything on that device I’d guess you had one or more addresses (MAC/IP/Router ID) duplicate in your network?

Hi

The + icon opens the create route window, but clicking apply does not make the route show in the routes windows under /ip/routes.
Clicking ok does nothing and the “create” window remains there.

I will try tomorrow and see what happens if i try to create a route using CLI (never did that, will export some route from my home tik).

As per the dynamic router ID being RED, i mean the only one thats there and comes with the router as a default.

At home it sais:
Name: main
ID:
Select dynamic id: only vrf
Select from VRF: main
Dynamyc ID: local ip of my bridge

I have NEVER touched anything in the /routing menues, i only went as far as creating routes under /ip/routes.

I am running 7.14.3, the “broken” device is a Hap AC Lite.

This particular TIK is alone in a building with a switch, 2 PCs and some security hardware i have no control over.

This happened while i was playing with a CHR on Azure, enabling wireguard on it, and having the “broken” tick connect to it alongside another mikrotik in another building.

I had to create some routes on the CHR and on both TIKS to have them see each other using this CHR managed wireguard tunnel.

I was then working on exposing ports on the CHR and having them forwarded to either of those other 2 phisical mikrotiks, but i failed there (havent tackled that yet) and at some point the routing table just broke, only on one mikrotik.

Tomorrow, ill try disabling wireguard and network interfaces on this mikrotik to see if it recovers.

EXTRA:

Just checked on the other phisical mikrotik involved in this CHR wireguard triangle, and the dynamic ID on that ones “router id” has the IP of one of its wireguard interfaces (that one has 3).
Strange?

reset config does nothing.

netinstall does not install.

gave up on getting netinstall to work (in fact, could not get the router detected by the tool anymore), but noticed after restoring an old backup by mistake, that routes where ok again.
I wiped the device, restored the newest backup i had (without the azure hosted wireguard stuff, which i had to configure by hand).
Device back online
