Routing seems to pause on RouterOS 3.16 under load

Hi there

I’m running a RouterBoard 532A with a daughterboard installed and since we upgraded to 3.16 from 3.9 we have noticed an unusual problem which seems to happen when there is moderate traffic loads (500kbit/s) between two routed interfaces.

What seems to happen is that every 20-30 minutes the router will drop all wireless connections with the logs showing “Received Deauth: Unspecified (1)” and no wireless networks appear to advertise their SSID for about 30 seconds, after which they reappear and the wireless devices reassociate.

Also at the exact same time all routing between ethernet interfaces ceases although nothing appears in the logs about this. It’s almost as if the router is rebooting itself, but the log does not indicate that this is the case.

Has anyone else seen this problem?

Regards

Richard

I have a 532 board at home and it used to run 2.9.51 up until a few short weeks ago. It was also the most stable router I support. I then decided to ‘upgrade’ to 3.16 so I can play with the more recent software and I’m afraid to say that I experience exactly the same symptoms. My router normally ‘freezes’ when I attempt a download of either a big file or many files. My wireless connection to the router seems to drop but I can still ping the router but winbox wont open and all DNS requests are rejected.

Interesting hey?

Just an update.

On 3.11 the RB532 works just fine. On the weekend I ‘upgraded’ to 3.17 and this morning downloading a 3/9Mb file, the router just froze. Internet access eventually comes back but I still can’t login to winbox via the IP address but it does work via the MAC address.

Update.

Upgraded to 3.19 and the RB532 NO LONGER hangs when doing heavy downloads.

So far so good Mikrotik.
