Routing Youtube Traffic Doesnt Work

I have tried to mark Youtube traffic by Layer7 using googlevideo and youtube reg expression.
Queuing works fine , but when I try to ROUTE these marked packets to another wan link, video doesn’t play.

Have any one successfully route YOUTUBE to another WAN link ?

Hi,
Google and Youtube use https , it means end to end encryption , how did you catch them with L7?
i suggest you to use IP’s , besides if you are separating your in/out traffic from/to Google or Youtube with different IP it may be an security issue for those servers , can’t say exactly , just a thought !!

also setting your MSS to 1470 , may solve the problem

send your firewall config please

Youtube have all changed to https making it impossible to do this today.
The proponents of https like what they have accomplished: impossible for men-in-the-middle
to influence the handling of their traffic. Of course it is shortsighted, because this now causes operational problems in the networks that required this traffic classification to be able to operate.

Ok. is there any way we can get IP Address list for youtube and all of its CDN ? doesn’t matter if it catches other traffic as well. but I really want to divert youtube traffic to different wan.
Is there any possibility we can mark traffic based on extension for youtube? like flv mp4 etc? will it work?

any , any workaround?

Working on media extension is possible only when you trying to download media’s from Youtube with some download software like Download Manager , but playing media’s in Youtube won’t use extension , it’s all about media streaming in a flash player plugin

it seems you have to find all IP’s !!! at least most useful IP’s

Hi,

as Youtube belongs to Google you can reroute traffic with Google IPs as destination address.

One idea how to get all Google IPs can be found here: http://forum.mikrotik.com/t/update-address-list-with-google-netblocks-from-dns/64631/1

Routing based on IP addresses works fine for me (incl. Youtube).

Kind regards,

I think routing based on IP’s will work the best, I am doing it as well.

In my country at least google is running on 216.58.0.0/16 and 41.160.0.0/16

The ones running in 41.160.0.0/16 resolves to cache.google.com.

This is in South Africa btw. and the subnets in your country will most probably be different.

the only drawback of this is you can be routing not only youtube, you can catch another google services like gmail google-apps google search etc.

Of course, if all Google netblocks are included it will reroute the traffic to all Google services. But as the OP wrote that it doesn’t matter if other traffic is rerouted as well it might be a simple and reliable solution.

OK I pulled all IP from ASN 15169 , now YT routing to second WAN link, Primary objective achieved.
But now issue is that its dragging many other services like Gmail / Dropbox, apps etc. is there any way I can route only YOUTUBE ? how can i found just YOUTUBE IP Address list only ?

same for me ..
please help me brother …
youtube trafick different WAN
