Hi,

does the RP filter “loose” setting check the default route or not ?

if default route is present (which is nearly always the case at a router), rp filter would be practically disabled. Therefore, the option “Loose Reverse Path Forwarding Ignoring Default Routes” from RFC 3704 would be good to be selectable (that would be my default in the future)

Completely agree, this would be preferred and in accordance to BCP84 - http://tools.ietf.org/html/bcp84.
