I have the most curious problem and I haven’t been able to find the answer. I have deployed RSTP in our Network and everything works nice a dandy, but the switch with the lowest priority that has alternate port will periodically drop icmp echo requests. Switch forward traffic without a problem, but when in my graphs it looks like he drops almost about 30% of icmp echo requests.
Does anybody have any idea why it behave like this ? and how can I fix it?
topology:
4 switches
root bridge riority hex 1000
bridge has hex 2000
switches 3 and 4 are connected to the 2nd switch with priorities 3000 and 4000
last switch drops echo requests and has priority 5000 with alternate port.
ps: I wouldn’t mind that much that he drops those echo request since everything other than that works great, but I don’t like to have false positives in my network.
