RSYNC question

Hello all,

I have two issues with rsync.

The hardware used are 2 old computers with lots of RAM, an SSD as boot drives. The source computer has 2 x 2T drives in raid 1 setup. This has been working great for more than 3 months.

Here is my config. Very basic.

/file sync
add local-path=raid1/SMB_root/Media mode=upload password=XXXX remote-address=10.10.1.10 remote-path=SMB_root/ user=YYYY

And as expected, it works, as shown below from the 2nd X86 "router".

[alain@AC01R10] /file/sync> print
Flags: D - DYNAMIC
Columns: REMOTE-ADDRESS, MODE, LOCAL-PATH, REMOTE-PATH, STATUS
REMOTE-ADDRESS MODE LOCAL-PATH REMOTE-PATH STATUS
0 D 172.16.0.251 download SMB_root/ raid1/SMB_root/Media in sync

The 1st router syncs to the 2nd like a charm.

Issue one : The “fileman” process” eats up the CPU of the target PC like crazy upon initial synchronisation. I had to reboot to get my CPU back.

Issue two : I delete a file from the source PC, but the same file on the target PC never gets deleted. I delete the file from the target PC, and it gets recopied from the source once the sync is launched, which makes sense, OK.

Q1 : Anything regarding CPU usage that I may have forgotten?

Q2 : Did I miss anything about configuring rsync which would allow me to synchronise deleted files from the source PC? I see no other options, even on CLI.

Thanks in advance for the help.

I’d probably delete your username/password from this public forum. Maybe its inaccessible but you never know.

Also not sure what this has to do with RouterOS.

Jeez, seriously?? And I annoy the crap out of people about security. "E" for effort on my part.

And yes, it's ROS related; FILES/SYNC.

Thanks,

AC

Sorry, i misunderstood thinking the rsync was between the 2 computers you mentioned.

Ya, I guess it could be misleading. Two PCs running ROS.
