Hello,
I am new around here, however I have been using the mikrotik wireless products for some time. We use the product for a combination wireless and wired network. The system uses 2 vlans and we move the data via trunks. This system is working with a fiber system as well. We have groups of 5-25 fiber connected switches that are then connected to another group of switches in another geographic area mikrotik wireless products. Each area has its own connection to our lan via a gateway on vlan 2. To be clear each area has its own unique subnet and gateway. At strategic points, we block Vlan 2 traffic from “invading” another subnet. This all works without issue.
When we connect all of the VLAN 1’s together, it wreaks havoc on the RSTP settings on the lan.
City 1 works so long as it does not see City 2 or City 3
City 2 works so long as it does not see city 1 or City 3
city 3 works so long as it does not see city 1 or city 2
The idea is we want to monitor all of the connected devices whether they be Ethernet radios, RB750UP switches, Comnet managed switches or any other device that uses SNMP
I would like to know if there is a way to “block” DBPU packets on the LAN. My thought is to put some type of block on the BDPU packets so that that data stays within its geographic areas. I have no desire for spanning tree to connect the mentioned areas. I only want to use it on the fiber connected switches.
Is there a way to do this with a mikrotik RB750 switch? I have looked around but can not find a definitive answer.
Thanks for everyone’s time on this one
Have a great day
