I’ve just bought a sextant g to get a better wireless network and internet from an ISP
but the problem occurred to me as soon as i unboxed the device,
plugging it to the internet and as soon as i noticed that i get a very high ping responds from the device it self!
the ping replies ranges from 800 to 3000 ms !
what would be the problem if the OS is the latest from mikrotik?
While you didn’t say how you were connecting to the sxt. If your using a laptop → cable ->sxt and the ping isn’t instant like 1ms then you have a cable or eithernet internface issue. I would suggest logging itno the sxt and reviewing log for ethernet drops/retrains and review the ethernet stats under interface and look for errors. If your seeing errors than try another cable. If that doesn’t fix it then try lower the ethernet port settings from say 1gb to 100meg.
I have seen issues when both sides of an ethernet connection is set to auto and they keep bouncing the interface. Set one as say 100meg full duplex and the other as auto for best results. (or 1gb if you know both sides can support it).
If your slow ping is over the wireless interface then you have an alignment or fresnel zone issue. If you changed your unit out from a low power unit to a higher power unit it’s possible the higher power unit causes more noise and or is picks up more noise than your lower power unit. What I’m saying is going to higher power doesn’t always mean you get better service, most of the time it doesn’t. imho
