Safe to Remove Antennas?

I bought the wireless version of the L009 because it was the only one in stock, the thing is I don’t need the internal wlan interface.

If I disable WiFi within RouterOS so the radio isn’t in use would it be safe to remove the antennas and cap of the connectors? Don’t want to fry anything.

The risk then is that you later need to reset it, and the radios come back up unloaded, and you’re in a scramble to find the ears before it fries itself, if you even kept them.

If you’re willing to buy caps, go the full distance and buy RF terminators instead. They will keep the radio electronics safe while grounding out the RF energy.

I can’t tell you exactly which type to buy. I can guess, but between fear of the FCC and respect for your warranty, you need to ask an actual RF engineer to specify something suitable. I’m speaking only of fundamentals. It can be done. The “how” doesn’t fall within the sphere of my expertise.

50 ohm terminators with the appropriate connector type should do the job.
Real ones are expensive, but suitable ones for this purpose can be obtained for cheap on Aliexpress.

It should be safe to remove the antennas if you’ve disabled WiFi in RouterOS. Just make sure the radio is truly not in use to avoid any potential issues.
