I’ve heard rumors about upgrading RB532s losing connectivity afterward. I’d like to update to 3.x as it’s looking fairly stable now, but the APs are very remote and I cannot risk them going down due to a failed upgrade. All my 3.x upgraded on CPE devices (RB112, RB133c) without problem, but upgrading AP has me nervous…
Upgrade to 2.9.51 first and you’ll be fine.
We had 2.9.51 and upgraded to the latest version of OS, We lost the connectivity as the Wlan was disabled after upgrade.
But thank GOD the site was just 10 KM away.
I’m curious about this topic too. There are few RB532A I would like to move from 2.9.51 to 3.10 and I don’t have time to play with my home router to test it.
Ashish, what is ‘the latest version’? 3.10?
Anyone else have expirience with this kind of upgrade?
Nope, I have NOT tried with 3.10, It was 3.4
an issue is definitely instability with a daughterboard and radios on the daughterboard. we have a number of those and all attempts with 3.x resulted in frequent reboots. according to MT this was going to be fixed. latest on this now is apparently that they recommend to keep them at 2.9.51. VERY disappointing !!! RB532A without daughterboard seem to work fine. but be aware that a remote downgrade from 3.x to 2.9.x will result in loss of wireless config. that was at least my experience.

That’s true.
But if you upgrade the bootloader before upgrading to 3.10 the upgrade seems to go smoothly (add the file into the ‘Files’ menu, then do a system>>routerboard>>upgrade and a reboot). I’m about to try it on our network and see how it goes.

I went ahead and updated two remote boards from 2.9.51 to 3.10. Very simple HW setup, just a single XR2, so I figured there was less risk than others may have had. Looking good so far!
