What are the effects of using the same channel on different radios with seperate SSID. I have several installations with bad SCADA interference and can only use channel 11 … running a local omni and two ptop flat pannels all on the same channel but with different SSID. I have tested thruput and range to the best of my abilities and have not seen any appriciable difference… any input would be greatly appriciated
I guess you should be better off with virtual AP feature present for atheros cards, maybe prisms too (I’m not sure, check docs).
Definitely, running several physical cards on the same freq is not the best thing. Also, if channels 1 and 6 are used, this does NOT limit you to using channel 11 ONLY.
You americans need to learn that there are several other channels than 1, 6 and 11 available. Here in small mid-european city (0.5mil. citizens), I’m able to catch 90 SSID’s on 13 channels.
Feel free to check channel 3 or 4 (depending on channel 1 and channel 6 signal strength) and channel 8 (because you will be on channel 11).
laughable and true - channel 6 being the most abused.
wifiradio - im sure you have scanned the frequencies and used the frequency-monitor to help u out. Remember isolating your distribution with walls/plates and using diffrerent polarity will also help.
OK .. we CANADIANS use all the available channels … 6 is used most often because most OEMs set their hardware to channel 6 as default… I am talking outdoor installations not indoor … what i want is some feedback on using multiple radios on the same channel with seperate SSIDs… are the effects decresed rx sensitivity and to what extent and does anybody have any other input on the subject …
guess not …
