Can a SATA drive be used as the cache drive for the web proxy while still using a PATA as system? Is there much performance increase using a SATA as cache drive on a “heavy” use proxy? Heard SATA has some of the same features as SCSI.

Sata is accepted on legacy mode (bios)

Are they any faster then PATA when in legacy mode?
Matt
no i dont think it works any faster in legacy mode. You might be able to get better speed if you buy the 10k rpm sata drive. tht would giveyou speed as reads and writes would be faster so the wait state for motor to r/w is reduced . Thats actually the main bottleneck as compared to the 150mbps and 100mbps of SATA and IDE
