i m not able to install Mikrotik 4.17 in SATA Hard-Drive.Plz give some solution.
what exactly fails when you try to install it?
Try to use different SATA modes in the BIOS.

It starts loading and then gives:

Looking for Hard drives…
found hard drive as SATA 1
FATAL ERROR: no CDROM found
another forum member had this issue, you need to use an IDE CD Drive
try to use netinstall or IDE CD/DVD drive
There is a workaround that i did find.
Install Vmware on your current windows PC then use the X86.iso as the disk, and give Vmware Direct access to the SATA drive u want to install it onto, reboot the VM let the iso install, reboot the vm again, select the modules u need, finish install, reboot Vm, it will boot, telling you you have 24 hours, at this stage move it to your RBpc u want to use, just for fun mac winbox in and [/system reset configuration] Y, Then do your ips, at this stage then eport LIC key, email to your supplier, get your key and install. VERY VERY IMPORTANT, Dont do this if you dont intend on getting a key, otherwise you need redo the process. U should not get the key while its in the VMWARE as you might of done the drive selection wrong (not direct drive access) and you will then have waisted a key on a VMware that cannot be written to HDD. The Key and the device serial is linked as far as i can see. a VM might have different key to the HDD in the native RBPC u going to use it in.
It worked for me, and after all the struggle i was sure to get a key within the first 24H, You have the same problem if you try and install from a USB key, It loads the image right, but the installed fails on CD-ROM. Vmware was the best way to do it for me, only since it allows direct drive access.

Mikrotik should seriously take on this. I got a Sata hard disk and new x86. was trying to install ROS but after booting the ISO LINUX the thing shows Fatal Error: No hard drive found.
I am booting from an external USB dvdrom. Pls pls help. clumsy vmware etc is a long process.
