Save RAM on RB941-2nD

Hi, I have a spare one and I would use it as entry point or VPN, I’ve tried different ways for tunnelling and I choose wireguard for different reasons.
Now I need to install OS7 in this small router, I did and works, but there are some disadvantages, it can crash for low RAM or the CPU may run to 100% without reasons.
I would light it up from components I don’t use, PPP (is it related with Wireguard?), MPLS, WiFi. I can’t find more (like in OS6) where I can disable these modules, how can I save RAM/CPU?
Thanks

I just use my RB941-2nD as a switch at this point for my older devices that are 100mbit ethernet. The only packages i’m running are dhcp, security and system everything else is disabled. I have 13-14 megs free with that setup but then again it’s only being used as a switch which is plenty. I wouldn’t recommend anything else for that device since its EOL and no longer supported by mikrotik. The current router-os I have installed on it is 6.49.10, I would stick to the 6 series routeros for that model.

Yes sure, for this model is recomended version 6, it can be used as AP for a capsman network, it’s antenna is not convenient but for small environments and cheap budges it can have sense. Anyway the topic is aimed to know which instruments are available to light it up with version 7, there should be something to try, just for the shake of trying.
I can’t figure them myslef, there isn’t more a way to disable components on Winbox.

Thanks for who may suggest something

One thing that put in crysys this device is access it with winbox, suddenly the cpu goes on 100%. I suppose is better deal with it by SSH

i ran it with lastest 7.14 with hap lite, FYI
include:
wireless package
dual wan failover ECMP scripts
NTP server
graphing

no facy stuff inside.

The behaviour with =S7 is unexpectable, 60% of time I just receive 62byte from it (wireguard status), other times it works ok. It’s not depending on exernal facts, it depends by it only, probably the CPU goes sometimes 100% for no reasons (nobody is connected to it, there are no filter rules as it’s behind another router), I have only a safe OVPN channel to manage it in case they changes the WAN IP, but it’s just answering keepalives.

I’ve installed 14.1 and I’ll check with it, by the time I still wonder to know from someone how to optimize the ruter.

EDIT; I’ve seen now your screenshot, you gacv me the idea to disable api, telnet, web, and all things I don’t use, let’s see

Few benefits, the router doesn’t answer properly sometimes to Wireguard, even if the CPU is low. Version 14.1 haven’t solved it.
Still lokking for a way to make version OS7 working fine with such router, removing all uncecessary things that create the problem.
Thank you

After numerous updates, I decided to stick with version 7.12.2 for this router model. Perhaps something will change in the future, but for now, it’s the most stable and optimal option.

Hi, I?ve found version 7.15.3 suitable for this router, there are lot of improvemnts where needed. Onestly I try to keep on version 6, but when for examle wireguard is needed, that’s the solution.
