Scan problem ?

Hello , i m trying out some wireless routers for a wireless network and i tried my luck with mikrotik too. Everything went fine except for a weird scan problem . While i was scaning with my laptop running kismet from my rooftop i see all SSID’s normal . With networkstumbler again everything is normal . When i tried with a mikrotik box some of the SSID’s appeared as boxes !!! I mean no ssid name (ex “MyLAN”) and at the SSID’s name there was some strange boxes ( something like ) . I tried the console scan and at the SSID’s that i could not see ( because of the boxes ) in winbox , now i could see something like this :

Flags: A - active, B - bss, P - privacy, R - routeros-network, N - nstreme
ADDRESS SSID BAND FREQ SIG RADIO-NAME
ABP xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx Normal_SSID 2.4ghz-b 2412 -84
AB xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx \00\00\00\00\00\00\00\00\0... 2.4ghz-b 2447 -83

Any idea what is causing this ? ( kismet and stumbler ssid is ok and at mikrotik i see boxes or zeroes )

Please excuse my english

ok maybe my english are to bad to understand what i am trying to say

Here is a picture of the problem :

As you can see in some SSID’s i just get instead of the name … when i do laptop + netstumbler scan i see all SSID’s normal

Is there something i can do to fix that ?

We get that in our city, its some sort of proprietory equipment I am told…

Hi ! , thanks for your reply

Your expression “proprietory equipment” means some device that uses 2.4Ghz but is not compatimble with 802.11b/g and so we get instead of SSID ?

Why using netstumpler i can see the SSID (or kismet) and while scaning using mikrotik i dont ? :open_mouth: Im sure its the same devices because of the MAC …

Its disturbing … :frowning: :imp:
