I have a problem, which (I hope) can be solved by scripting:
I have a client complaining about the speed of his connection Everytime I test it, the advertised speed shows up.
I want to monitor his activities online and collect data on visited IP no;s, ports and tx/rx rate. Well something like Torch, but then adding the output to a statistics file?
Is this possible? Pls. help, I can handle MT, but scripting in not my thing.
Graphing your links and customers will only bring good things.
It’s possibly one of the single most rewarding thing one can do when running a network. Oh that and gathering logs and monitoring them in real time. They are both gold mines.
The graphing i think he was referring to is the built-in one in v2.9. A neat feature!
You could run similar graphs on a server, i hear some use cacti (http://www.cacti.net) but there are many many solutions to this.
Google snmp and graphs.
