I am setting up a RB750gr3 (Hex) as a small SMB server.
I put a 256GB SD card in it and it would not format it - I tried both FAT32 and Ext3 and in neither case would it mount the card after ‘formatting’ - still showed unknown & 0B free…
I did try formatting on a PC but that used exFAT and so wasn’t recognised by the 'tik.
I then attached my card reader to the mikrotik via USB and the card was recognised, formatted as FAT32 with no problems and was mounted…
I then moved the card back to the SD card slot and it was mounted with no problems and is accessible and writeable.
So there is something ‘odd’ going on with large SD cards and formatting in the SD card slot. I did put a 2GB card in and that was formatted with no problems but I do’t have any other sizes to test…
