Secondary (fallback) SSID?

Is it possible to configure a Mikrotik CPE with a secondary SSID to associate to such that if the primary SSID is unavailable, the CPE will automatically associate with the secondary? Tranzeo radios can do this and this is an AWESOME feature for avoiding trips to a tower site in the middle of the night to replace a failed AP! :frowning:

I want to switch exclusively to Mikrotik based CPEs, but would sorely miss this safe-gaurd if it is not possible in RouterOS!

Good question. Not sure but you might want to play with the connect list to see if you can make something work that way.

Cameron, you need to ensure that second failover SSID Access Point is present.
Then you can do it with interface wireless connect-list.

Add two rules;

  • first rule for primary AP;
  • second rule for secondary AP [do not forget to specify another SSID];
  • disable default-authentication=no
