Secondary HDD for log's

It would be nice if we can set that all the data from the log (sessions) to be stored on another disk (HDD) because, we use DOM with MT.

Best regards

Point out the logs to a syslog server / device..
One interesting idea is a oice of freeware called
syslog2odbc.. it accepts syslog messages and sends them to an ODBC store IE Access db or my favorite SQL server where you can slice and dice the logs at will !!!

Things that make you go HMMMMMM…

Craig

I was talking about the accounting data of the manager…

Regards

Yes..
The log data can be sent to a log server..
The “interum updates” produce log events.
Activity produces log events..
(Sometimes TOO much data)

I was looking at this to produce user activity logs for “black box” functions.

Craig..

Cibernet:

Were you referring to backing up users’ statistics and it still being possible to retrieve those stats from within userman for future reference?

I’m looking for a solution where a user can go to their stats even a year later, and still see their traffic usage. As far as I understand, with the Syslog system you can’t retrieve those settings from within userman.

Could anyone please shed some light on this?

yes - right now there is no possibility to do that. we will think about it, thank you for the suggestion.

Thanks Normis, this will be greatly appreciated by ALL WISP’s in South Africa for one!

I’m really impressed with the work everyone has done with UM up to now. It is sufficient for WISP’s in SA, but many things still needs to be done manually, like resetting usage etc by the end of the month. I can only imagine how people with 500+ users using UM must feel…

Giepie, do not forget that actually User Manager is still on beta stage, new features to User Manager are added with every new version and User Manager is being improved.
