most of 2.4 GHZ WISP use sector antenna on their tower to deliver internet to the wireless coustomers.
what are the points shd be kept in mind before we purchse sector antenna for our tower:-
(A.) like how many sectors we shd purchse to cover 360 degree(shd it be 90 deg, or 120 deg)?
(B.) wht shd be the dimensions of a good sector, does wieght, thickness, height, of the sector paly any role in performance?
(c) what shd be the vertical seperation of sectors frm each other on tower?
(D) what are the other key feautures a good sector must hav for best performance.
which company’s sector are good and relaible for 2.4 ghz wisp use?
This is a controversial subject, so I will respond.
Each install is different. YOU must decide the best antenna for the location. On my ‘standard’ installs (if there is such a thing) I use 3 Pacific Wireless 14db 120 degree sectors with R52H radios set B-mode at 22db. Insure the frequencies are clear of each other, and it does not seem to matter how close they are, as long as they are not facing each other .
I guess if you are using 2.4 GHz you don’t have more than 3 channels non-overlapping anyway - so 3 x 120 degrees would make sense - unless you run 10 or 5 MHz channels. But like it has been said - every site is different…
Personally, I don’t like running RF-cables up a tower or mast - to much loss and risk of water leaking into the connectors - besides, RF-cables are expensive and time consuming to install. We use 5 GHz and that certainly needs quality cables - so we went for base stations and point to point links with integrated antennas, with just CAT5 for POE up the towers. I find that very flexible and easy to manage.
plz also share ur thoughts on the dimensions of a good sector, thickness, vertical length, horizontal width, etc..how these things effects the performance of a sector.
