Sending emails to email address outside of my network

I am currently using ver beta12 and am having some problems setting up notifications.

I have set the smtp server to my local server
set the email address to a local emails address (dude@mydomainname.com)

I can have it email my company address and it works
If i set it to an external email adress like my phone or my gmail account
it displays an error “invalid TO ADDRESS”

Help please

Do you have DNS setup on your SMTP server? What SMTP server are you using? Can you send messages from it directly to the outside?

I do have DNS and an internal exchange server that can send outbound

This is not a email issue per say its the dude that gives me the error message when i try to send to any domain other then the one that i have mapped.

ITs really weird

It happens when i set up an email notification to my cell phone

Thats odd. Dude shouldn’t be checking addresses as it could care less. I wonder if Dude is reporting the message being received from the SMTP server or if this is an internally genterated error. Since you are using the same SMTP server for either internal or external addresses, the destination domain shouldn’t matter. I’m running postcast (free version) for my SMTP server on the DUDE server itself. I don’t have any issues sending email to any address.

I solved this in a way.
I added a group in exchange that contained the external email address and then had the dude send to that group.

I wanted to post this so if others have a problem we will know its a bug

Thanks
