seperate active and startup configs and secondary media

I have been saved dozens of times on my Riverstone and Cisco routers after making configuration errors by rebooting.

The big iron requires you to copy active config to startup before changes are permenant. At that time it also makes a backup to the secondary media, and the (primary, secondary) media in the hot spare controller card.

A friendly reminder asks you if you want to commit the changes permenantly when you attempt to log out.

This would be VERY helpful.

The secondary media could be another flash card or usb flash etc.

we will try to implement something like that in future.
For now you can use the Save mode:

Safe mode has been awesome for me… especially from home if my system starts going low on throughput from interference, I can telnet, start Safe Mode, change the channel and see if it disconnects me or not. Often times it doesn’t, and the channel change is successful with more throughput.

I think I would go crazy without that, I’d have to drive to my tower at 2am and change the channel again.
