I have a couple of RB-600s to configure.
I get a serial connection, run setup and it goes to the point of activating eth1 and from that point on the cursor jumps to the top and over writes the screen but the old screen does not refresh so the input is garbled.
Maybe Windows Terminal is not the thing to use?
I can set the ip address and netmask then when I try to set the gateway it appears on the screen backwards with the last address in the range not the first by default. Correcting the entry and then “enter” causes setup to fail. This is confusing and not a good command line.
Did I get a bad board or is it “Terminal”?
Is it the Windows Hyperterminal that you use?
I use Tera Term Pro and the new version of Putty that has serial support.
And you may need to set flow control to “none”.
Other things that you can try it on another computer.
Looks like the trick is to use puttytel and keep the window less than full screen.
Full screen gives unexpected results.
Thanks for the tip about puttytel supporting serial connections. We use putty SSH all the time to manage Linux servers. Nice.
A thing that i’ve noticed about SSH to RouterOS is when you resize the window after logging in, it can crash the session…
But if you do it before logging in i works fine…
Maybe that’s what happend to the serial session to…
