its possible check de serial number of a MiniPCI Card. in a routerboard (RB433UAH)???
In a way. That is why on a previous post I recommended not changing the mac address.
serial number = mac address
okey, then the MiniPCI Carnd, dont have Serial Number? only have the Mac Address. You recomended not changing the mac address. then you are afirmating that its possible change permanently the mac addres (isnt enmascarate under windows or RouterOS)
I can change the mac address on my R52. I rebooted the router and the new mac is still there. I changed it back to the original. I only changed the last number for the test.
I do not recommend changing the mac address on a hardware interface. Sometimes the mac address must be changed on virtual interfaces to avoid duplicates.
I am not sure that you can change anything in wireless card eeprom with customer access.
You need a special application from the manufacturer if you want to permanently change the hardware id. The Mac address settings in RouterOS is only a parameter to the network driver.
Thanks! I was wondering about that. If I change the mac address, then I used
/system reset
the mac would return to its previous setting? I don’t really want to try that on this router.
wow
its possible change permanently the mac addres
then how its possible diferenciate the MiniPCI Card? the serial Number?? i was shearching for the serial number inside RouterOS but i dont see anything >_<
If you put the same card in another router, the MAC should again be the old one. You can’t/shouldn’t change it permanently
wow
its possible change permanently the mac addres
then how its possible diferenciate the MiniPCI Card?
It’s usually available when you update the firmware on your network adapter. You can take a look at this manual from Intersil and see for yourself that it is possible to change both the Mac Address and the Serial Number.
