Serial Port Logging

Hi,

we use the ‘/port remote-access log-file=…’ option to record battery voltages at remote sites. They have been running 6.40.8 and we’ve started moving to 6.45.9 - but the voltage monitors now only run for about 60 minutes before stopping. Every 5 minutes, we send the contents of the file to our monitoring system and empty the file.

Hardware hasn’t changed, so suspect it’s a problem with 6.45.x; worked fine for over a year on 6.40.8

For the first 60 minutes or so, all works fine. The voltages appear in the specified file, and gets uploaded to our monitoring system. When it stops, the file sits at zero bytes, but the ‘creation’ timestamp keeps updating - in most cases every second, despite the serial port only outputting data every 30 seconds.

If I disable the ‘remote-access’ option and do a ‘/system serial-terminal’ on the port, I get the output from the voltage monitor, so that’s still sending out data fine; only a reboot of the router resets things and that’s not really an option!

hardware is hEX PoE, firmware 6.45.8 and 6.45.9 both seem to have this issue.

Anyone else use the logging of the serial port or come across similar issues? Just thought I’d try here before logging a support call.

Cheers

Marty

same problem, logging run up to 4kB data logged (exactly 4096B ~ between 50~60 minutes log-time) then logging stop
RBM33G , some versions, in actual latest stable still not solved ( 6.48 )
