set SSID broadcast interval

I read another thread asking about setting the beacon interval…but there was no conclusion.

Does anyone know how or if you can set the intveral of which RouteOS broadcasts the ssid of the Access point?

the reason being some devices from some manufactures always seem to show up on windows or customer laptop scans, where as other show up less frequelnly. I assume that windows does a quick peek on each channel of 2.4ghz and listens for the SSID broacdscast frame.

the idea is to incresase the number of those frames broadcasted to increase the liklyhood of the client laptop picking up your SSID frame in that very short window.

Im testing / trying just adding a virtual AP with the same ssid and on the same bridge..seems to work according to packet sniffs.

In Heaven (or perhaps Hell), ROS will have an “expert mode” (attainable by clicking through a vast disclaimer disavowing all responsibility for technical support) allowing users to access useful parameters now hidden in the interest of providing us with fewer opportunities to screw up our configurations.

Nice hack! Halves the interval, sort of? Did you duplicate the MAC on the VAP?

We had some (thankfully now retired) Cisco bridges that refused to associate to Cisco APs except on Tuesdays falling on even dates because the default beacon interval on the Cisco APs was too long. Happily enough, having fluffed the interval Cisco did still allow users to adjust the interval.
