Setting pppoe server and hotspot on same interface

Is it possible to have both a hotspot and pppoe server on the same interface and use the same ip pool to assign addresses?

I’ve done this previously in testing and had a couple of our users connecting like so, was no problems with it that I could see.

There does however need to be settings to say what happens to those users after they run out of data thou as otherwise they’ll simply reconnect and continue on without being restricted, using radius groups etc and handing through extra attributes means you can place them in a restricted firewall chain.

Thanks, Am using freeradius and authenticate against a radius manager which stores information of the users, So i guess that will work. :slight_smile:

how do i use pppoe and hotspot on one outdoor AP using rb2011

my setup is
ethr1=wan
ethr2=hotspot
ethr3=pppoe
then trendnet port switch to merge the 2 to the AP.
i want to do the same without using the 5 port switch.
