Setting Time in Capac from main router.

I noticed the time and date were wrong on my capac.
I do have a System SNTP client option available.
it was not enabled and had multicast as the default type.

I changed it as follows
enabled
primary NTP - gateway of subnet the CAPAC is (ex. capac IP is 192.168.1.100 gateway entered 192.168.1.1)
I noted that multicast changed on its own to unicast.

I checked system clock and NO change. Still wrong time and date???
Is there an input fw rule I need to make if the router is providing a time service to the capac??

(router has NTP client set and has correct date and time)

I thought it would be best if all devices are synced to the same time as router…??

I doubt your gateway works as NTP server. Set ntp server DNS name to pool.ntp.org

Router has to act as NTP server … and for that extra package ntp has to be installed.

That part is done (ntp package).

So is this is correct?

ntp client set to pool and gains IP and Router time shows correct.
enable ntp server
only option is to set type of broadcast - kept default of manycast.

Thats it? no other selections seem possible?

Check capac - sntp client set to gateway of router LAN that capac is a member of, so far nothing happens…

I suggest you
a. setup NTP client on router - done, time synched on router
b. setup NTP server on router - enabled, broadcast and manycast selected.
c. Final step - add input chain rule for service ex. in-interface-list=lan protocol=udp dst-port=123 comment=“Access NTP Server”
d. On any other devices (capac etc.) put the LAN gateway IP of the device as the sntp server!

Why thank you. Brilliant you are!!

Hail Anav, the guru of ours!

hehe, dont forget he has that elusive MT designation MTUNA certificate!! Its special and rare!
