I am trying to set up the time and date settings on the RouterOS on a PC, but the documentation is rather incomplete. I enter the command:
system clock set time-zone-name=?
and get “TimeZoneName ::= Africa/Abidjan | Africa/ Accra | Africa/Addis_Ababa | Africa/Algiers | Africa/Asmara | …”
Ummm… I don’t live anywheres near africa. Is there a complete list of all the places that I can use?
Any help would be appreciated.
Simply find a city in that list that is in the same time zone as you. This is a pretty standard Linux setup. Winbox would be ab easier way to find your time zone.
That’s my question … what list? Where is it and how do I access it?
Forgot about Winbox. I’ve been doing all the configuring from the RouterOS command line. Let’s see … opening Winbox. There it is in “System > Clock”.

Well, as it turns out there aren’t any cities on the list too close by, so I entered the information manually. The manual method included the Daylight Savings Time specifics, which is non-conformist in my area.

EDIT: ok, so you found it timezones go vertically, so for Riga for example, I can select Athens. Probably same for you.
EDIT 2: in console typing [?] will only tell you the syntax, with 5 examples. To see all available options, you need to hit [TAB][TAB]

Ahhh! The old “tab tab” trick! Missed it by THAT MUCH!! 
I missed the list because I was not using Winbox on a Windows PC. I was using the command line interface on the RouterOS, But once I used Winbox, I saw the list.
like I said, tab-tab would show you the list also in command line.
After rebooting the mikrotik, time configuration is not staying at previous setup. Would you please help to add time zone website in mikrotik so that time do not change and router can synchronize time?
RouterBOARDs don’t have a battery, so time will be reset after reboot. Use NTP to get time from the internet (or a locally situated NTP server). You can read more about it here:
