We’ve been trying to do something quite simple, but its my understanding the way Mikrotik allows you to set it up, is beyond what is ever necessary.
Burst Rate: Speed customer can burst to
Burst Time: “Time” (rather than data) that the customer can burst to
Sustained Rate: Speed the customer drops to after the “burst time” runs out
This has worked well for us, but seems things get a little out of whack after we have so many simple queues using PCQ rates.
Noticing now the some customers can only burst to the “Burst Rate” for 5-10 minutes before it drops it to the sustained rate, even though the “Burst Time” is set to 00:45:00.
Someone mentioned once, that we should increase the “Total Limit” kiB from 2000 to higher, perhaps 8000, after we have more than 50 users at the selected PCQ rate.
Is there a better way of doing this? Should the “Total Limit” or “Limit” rates be increased?
