I’m trying to setup a domain whitelist on my 750GL router and sue that to filter traffic from another router.
Here’s what I’m trying to accomplish:
I have 2 networks running on a Apple Airport Extreme wifi router.
192.1.0.1 and 192.1.1.1
I have a wireless access point setup for each of these networks.
On the 192.1.0.1 network I want users to be able to go to any website they want.
On the 192.1.1.1 network I want to restrict users to a whitelist of sites and block all others.
I’m currently accomplishing this by using OpenDNS as the dns server for 192.1.1.1, however it keeps intermittently blocking traffic to sites that are whitlisted. I’ve been working with Opendns to try and figure out what’s going on, but can’t solve the problem.
I want to try using the 750GL to accomplish the same thing.
My plan is to put the 750GL between the Extreme and the cable modem and then allow traffic from 192.1.0.1 through but block as sites but whitlisted ones for 192.1.1.1
So the 750GL would be connected to the Internet and the Extreme to one of the ports on the 750GL.
I would think I can allow the Extreme to continue handling DHCP for the two networks and just pass through traffic to the 750GL which will handle the rest.
I believe that this is doable, but I don’t understand how to set this all up.
If I could get some direction, that would be great.
